CDL Winter Season Youth Academy 9’s and 10’s Rules of the Game 1. Development of the player is to be the driving force for play-- not winning! Coaches need to make decisions for on field strategy that is for development of the player and not just to win a game. No scores are keApt & no standings are kept for a reason: so players can concentrate on developing skills and enjoying the game. 2. Clubs with multiple teams in an age group are to play a mixed (balanced) roster for all their games until Feb. 1st at which time teams can be aligned within each club for strength as an A team, B team and/or C Team playing the schedule that remains as such. No stacking a team. 3. If a team gets up on another team at anytime by 4 goals, the team behind may add an extra player on the field. If the score drops back to less than 4 goals, the extra player needs to leave the field of play. 4. No rule on goalie punts over the half way mark. However, coaches should discourage punts to the other goalie as an offensive strategy. If this is abused, the league will revisit this rule and make changes to limit the goalie punts. 5. Players “parking” in the back or near the goalie is not acceptable. Players should be coached to play a ‘pass & possess & distribute’ style of play. 6. Referee fees: Each team pays $10 per game to the referee. 7. No special rules for Throw-ins; feet up, whistle blows. 8. All regular season rules apply to the jamboree on Nov. 6th and 7th.
